I love automating my shit

This is inspired by Nomnomnami's post Hand-Coding is Just More Fun for Me.[1] The post was an interesting perspective because I'm completely the opposite! And it wasn't just really really opposite, which was the interesting part. Nami says that hand-coding stuff gives them more control, and they're more likely to overlook mistakes when the process is automatic (Gray, 2026) (??? save me). For me, the end result is exactly the same: I also want control and want to minimize mistakes. But I feel like automating stuff gives me more control and I am far, far more likely to make mistakes if I hand-code things. So now I have an excuse to ramble about how parts of my website are generated! Take the gallery. Whenever I draw a picture featuring some of my own characters, the picture needs to be added in the main gallery page and each individual character page, and if the character has a gallery subpage, it also needs to be added to the subpage and one picture has to be deleted to keep the total…
