Not the usual nuthatch fest or even jays but the two rows of flowers that appear every year in the walled garden for pollinators. Rudbeckias and asters I think. They are a visual delight and I presume are there for the benefit of the honey bees whose hives are over in one corner of the walled garden. Last year I had a jolly time there photographing mostly admirals, a comma and painted ladies on these flowers. I relished the prospect of visiting somewhere other than Saltoun. I also took some birdfood, just in case.target flowersThings did not start well on the 26th. The weather looked to be overcast to such a degree that I did not leap out of bed and hurry anywhere. In fact I probably dicked about on blog reports and tweaking photos until the sun appeared early afternoon and only then shouldered my backpack.
