Roguish 1920s adventurer Calvin Rafferty and gender non-conforming Miskatonic University academic Faye Bennett are deeply in love – with each other, and with the occult. After a ritual went badly wrong, Faye has been left in a coma-like state – but Calvin believes a certain tome in the restricted stacks at the University Library Annex might hold the key to reviving her. That’s a bit of a problem, because Arkham is now several months into a catastrophic flood. As Calvin leaves his and Faye’s apartment, the authorities announce over megaphone that they are pulling out, this is the last chance to evacuate, and anyone who is left in town is on their own.
