The Serenity of Defrag

The other day this post on Mastodon from Jason Kottke came across my feed: Ahhh, relax with the sights and sounds of the Windows 98 Disk Defrag Simulator. The link to Defrag98.com caught my eye instantly. Developer Dennis Morello created a serene "desktop" within a browser that lets you defragment a hard drive & enjoy something of the old Windows 95 era of disk maintenance. Morello describes his project as follows: You just defragmented a disk that hasn't existed in 25 years, and if those colorful blocks snapping into place scratched an itch you forgot you had, this one's for you. The "defragmenting" is pretty slick as it is a near-100%-accurate recreation of the Windows 95 utility.
