Old cars parked: August 2026

A diverse lineup of old iron this month. I feature a car here when it is/could be more than 20 model years old and I found it parked on the street or in a lot. Here now, the cars. 1962-64 Volkswagen Beetle. This cute little guy was hanging out at the bike shop in Zionsville. Small side windows but larger tail lights narrowed the date range right down. 1984-89 Toyota 4Runner. I thought these were serious niche vehicles when they were new. Look at me, not choosing the right horse in the race again. Spotted in Broad Ripple. 1984-96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. Can I just say that I never thought these were attractive cars? Not their Buick, Chevy, or Pontiac lookalikes either. Spotted in Irvington, Indianapolis. 1988-92 Toyota Corolla. I was super jazzed to come upon this wagon parked curbside in Irvington, Indianapolis. 1988-95 Mercedes 500 SL. I like earlier generations of the SL better, but I wouldn’t kick this one out of bed for eating crackers. Spotted at the Nora (Indianapolis) Kroger.…
