Even during my great subscription cull of 2025 I tried a host of other applications with the hope of leaving Lightroom behind (I settled on Photomator briefly, until Apple seemed to want to abandon it) but remained with Adobe in the end. Capture One was never an option at the time because they did not have native support for Hasselblad’s 3FR files which I sometimes use my main application to develop rather than Phocus. With Capture One adding support for 3FR files a little over a month ago, I decided to give the application a try. Their miserly one-week-long trial period was surprisingly convincing and I have now switched over from Lightroom for good. This note is for my own reference in future, but it may also help anyone hesitant to leave the familiar shores of Lightroom in search of new, more promising lands.
