In my ideal world, I’m typing out this blog post with a cup of hojicha at my favorite cafe, right after I’ve walked the dog, fed her and the cat, eaten breakfast with my wife, without any work pressure looming. How often does that happen? Once a week, maybe. It’s special. The rest of the time, this blog is typed out by fingers (or thumbs) late at night, or in between commitments. I thought I’d get in the groove of it by now, but the opposite has happened; writing has found its way to fitting into the changing grooves of my life. “Special is nice—but special is optional,” my friend Nik writes. “That’s the important part to remember. Enjoy special when it floats your way, but don’t make it a requirement.
