Linux Lite: After Few Months

It is said that 1 when using the new software or a toy or a gadget, your initial impressions are always positive. You find the problems only after using it for some time. My first impressions is that was snappy, and it still is. But what I noticed in last two months, is about the updates. After each login, there is a popup with multiple buttons, most important (and useful) to me is Install Updates Each Sunday, I religiously install the new updates. After some weeks, I noticed that just like User Management UI is wrapper on useradd (See previous post), Install update seems to be a wrapper on apt-get update followed by apt-get upgrade Why is that a problem? Two things: First, there is no way to stop the updates (if I need to, for some reason) Second, the progress bar UI is misleading. Just like in the output of apt-get upgrade each package shows 0 to 100, which happens pretty fast, and then it goes back to 0 (and quickly to 100) So if there are 50 packages being updated, user never…
