With the first point release of Ubuntu 26.04 in the form of Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, I can briefly summarize my thoughts about being back on Ubuntu for almost half a year now. Do I miss Windows? Absolutely not. I love how much I don’t need to care about the system anymore. Updates? So fast. Booting? So fast. Issues? Almost none. I can finally use my computer to do what I want to do, and I do not need to fiddle with any settings or resolve problems. I still have Windows 11 in the VM, but I only booted it up from time to time to do the updates or try something I thought was only possible on Windows to then find a better solution on Linux anyway. It still sucks that some services like WOW (to watch soccer) are actively blocking Linux clients, but I have other ways (TV, tablet) to access them. What is much more important to me is that developing the small tools I created for myself (all Go-based) is much nicer on Linux. I can quickly start a Docker container and run test workloads in…
