Years ago when I wrote about my third great-grandfather John Wesley Williams, I stated that he was born “in Cambridge, Washington County, NY to Jason and Lucy Williams”. For years I had no idea who Jason and Lucy were. When full-text search came to Family Search I happily found a few deeds for Jason with his wife Lucy, but that was it. I didn’t think I’d ever find out what Lucy’s maiden name was, let alone anything about her. But when I did another full-text search on “Jason Williams”, I found some text from a book on the history of Washington County, NY that stated a “Mrs. Jason Williams” from Cambridge was one of the daughters of Joshua H. Conkey and Abigail Pierce! Might this be a big break in this brick wall? After much research, I found out that yes, it was! I not only found Lucy’s parents, but also her family line going back a few generations, which I’ll write about more at a later time.
