You don't remember books, you remember sentences

You don’t remember books, you remember sentences I heard this in the Psychology of Money podcast (episode) and it resonated with me. I always wondered and got frustrated that I don’t remember the books I read. But when I heard this quote, it made me realize that it’s not the books we remember, it’s the ideas in them. Especially the ones that strike a chord when we read/hear them. And that may come from a chapter, a paragraph or even one sentence. I used to try out strategies for remembering what I read only to fail at it later. But the fact was, if it resonates with me I’d remember. It’s as simple as that. This doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t make notes. I still would. But I won’t worry about not remembering things.
