Both me and my super amazing wife have a deep connection to Shakespeare and the Folger library, despite neither of us having been able to visit before (it was closed for renovations last time we were living in the area). In college she had participated in Shakespeare festivals and played several of the roles and thought deeply about the plays and their meanings. I, on the other hand, have seen the complete works of Shakespeare (abridged) in middle school, and much later I went out on I think two dates once with a woman I dimly remember working at the Library. We also of course have both been to the Globe. The Folger Shakespeare Library is really quite an institution to have in DC. If it’s not the top place for scholarly Shakespeare research in all the world it certainly has to be the most substantial.
