Western SAN ANTONIO (1945), reunited half a decade later for MONTANA (1950).MONTANA has just been released on Blu-ray by the Warner Archive Collection. It was the last of Flynn and Smith's four films together, a collaboration which began with DIVE BOMBER and GENTLEMAN JIM in 1942.This time around Flynn plays Morgan Lane, who arrives in Montana determined to be a sheep farmer.This makes him very unpopular with the local cattlemen, as well as lovely -- and feisty -- cattle owner Maria Singleton (Smith).Maria has lost her father and brother in the range wars, and despite her clear attraction to Morgan, she just can't abide the idea he wants to raise sheep, to the point she's willing to "go to war" against him.Can't we all get along?Well, given that this is Errol Flynn and Alexis Smith, of course they're going to work things out by the end of the movie's short 76 minutes.As was the case when I saw the film back in 2014, I found… No comments yet.
