2026 has been a good year for Jason Statham fans, with the enjoyable SHELTER (2026) earlier this year and the recent release of his latest film, MUTINY (2026).As background, MUTINY was written by J.P. Davis and Lindsay Michel. Davis cowrote the very well-done PLANE (2023) a few years ago, which was directed by Jean-Francois Richet and filmed by Brendan Galvin. Richet and Galbin reteamed, along with screenwriter Davis, for MUTINY. I've seen some speculation that MUTINY is a loose reworking of the original idea for SHIP, a planned PLANE sequel which fell through, and given the circumstantial evidence that theory makes sense to me.MUTINY is a very entertaining 95 minutes which finds Statham playing Cole Reed, a former UK cop who is now head of security for ultra-wealthy shipping magnate Tibu Campallo (Ramon Tikaram), who's based in Bangkok.Cole and Tibu are trapped and ambushed while on a drive just as Tibu is about to sell his company.
