how to park a bike 0 ▲ lux's blog 56 minutes ago · Life · hide · 0 comments I am currently on exchange in Amsterdam: The bike capital of the world. Being the bike capital of the world, however, comes with increased demands on parking infrastructure, and Amsterdam delivers! I don’t think I have seen this many parking garages for bikes before. But just like building more lanes to fix traffic, building more parking just induces more demand for parking. So people end up having to find creative ways of parking. One of the first things that struck me when arriving in Amsterdam is how traffic laws for bikes are, at best, a suggestion. It’s expected that you routinely break them11.Except for biking while holding a cell phone. This appears to be the only traffic law that is enforced. It’s perfectly fine to be 3 people on a bike all eating sandwiches with both hands, but if you pull out your phone to check the directions, you will be fined. . This extends to parking as well where signs asking people not to park somewhere must not get in the way of an empty spot… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
