The London Café tube map

Slim Summer Saturday Since 1999 the London Café in Vitoria-Gasteiz has attracted punters with its London-themed decor, including a red bus behind the bar, a sign pointing to Earl's Court Station and the door of a red telephone kiosk a stuck to the wall. The food offering is more standard and the front pump merely serves Guinness at non-London prices, but there's clearly been an attempt to make Britons feel vaguely at home. BestMate'sOtherHalf remembers coming to gigs here when the bands in the back room were all ska and punk, these Basque favourites rather than a nod to London in the late 70s, but these days the cafe's more somewhere to come for beer and a burger in a wood-panelled room with a faux-London vibe. While we were ordering at the bar I became intrigued by a sign pointing towards the toilets which said SUBWAY, a slight mis-step. So I followed it to the back room and there on the wall I found a giant tube map mural stretching up into north London. Oh that's good, I thought.…
