The Late Great Tim Curry

Legendry actor Tim Curry died on August 24, 2026, at the age of 80. He was best known for playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). He also played Wadsworth in Clue (1985), Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island (1996), and, on television, Pennywise in the mini-series It, among many other roles.Tim Curry was born on April 1946, in Grappenhall, Cheshire. When he was twelve years old, his father had a stroke and then died weeks later from complications from pneumonia. Tim Curry went to school at Kingswood School in Bath, Somerset and later graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1968 with a degree in English and drama. It was not long after graduating from the University of Birmingham that Tim Curry began his professional acting career with a 1968 production of Hair on London's West End.
