Climate change is too soft, too neutral. Climate change makes it sound as though something simply happened to us, it didn’t. We built this, we built an economic system that treats the living world as raw material, turns everything into property, pushes everything through markets and then calls the resulting destruction “growth”. The next twenty years will be the “bill” we have to pay for this short-sighted greed. And the really dangerous part is that we are still trying to solve the problem using the same thinking that created it. Welcome to #climatechaos, not one dramatic event that starts on a particular day, it is chronic, it accumulates, compounds. It moves through food systems, water systems, ecosystems, economies and communities.
