Today marks one year since I was laid off from a role I had for over six years. I still remember exactly what I was doing when I received the dreaded email from someone I thought I could trust. No, just kidding. I knew he wasn't someone I could trust, but he certainly acted like he was. I was doing a Peloton class when the email came through, and I spent the rest of that class dreading the meeting I knew was coming. I had to wait 3-4 hours from the moment I received the email to when the meeting was actually scheduled. I had an inkling of what was happening, so I made sure to download everything I needed. I even managed to say somewhat of a goodbye to some of my coworkers. They told me I had nothing to worry about. That I was overthinking it. I definitely wasn't. I got on the call. HR was there. They fed me all the usual lines: I was doing a great job, this wasn't about my performance, blah blah blah, restructuring blah blah blah. I don't remember much of what was actually said. I…
