What is it about me and middle mouse buttons giving out?

Am I scrolling too fiercely or I've had relatively mixed luck with computer mice over the years. I bought a Cyborg Rat 7 when I was competitively playing Starcraft 2 during the beta, so like early-mid 2010 and I didn't need to replace it until 2021. Because I'm a weirdo who had already changed both my midi controller and my mechanical keyboard to a white color scheme, I found a white Rat 8 available once my 7 was dying and snatched it up. I took it to work with me every day, I took it to tournaments, I played through endless hours of Diablo II and III on it, I recorded, edited and mixed like 5 albums on it - but within a few years of owning it, the middle mouse button stopped being able to be clicked. It could scroll great, just not click for some reason I could never figure out.
