I just successfully repaired my Fairphone 4 for about 15 Euros. The USB-C connector was a bit wobbly since some time already, and recently I could not connect the phone to my Laptop anymore. After getting frustrated that none of my cables would work, and for some reason Bluetooth file sending also didn’t work, I finally admitted defeat and ordered the spare part. Fairphone’s philosophy is “you own the phone and you’ll get also spare parts”, and indeed, they still sell a spare USB-C port part for the Fairphone 4 for €14.95. The delivery was fast (2 days) and the replacement took me about 15 minutes, using their support website and the provided Youtube video instructions. I’m more than happy, the USB connector feels good again, the data connection works like charm and I have this feel-good feeling whenever you fix something you own. Good for your pocket, good for your morale, good for the planet. Fairphone is truly Solarpunk and we can have nice things :-)
