One horse there looks more curious than the rest. A flock of starlings decided it was absolutely vital that they all immediately move 100 metres to the west. This is arguably one of the most “Hveragerði” photos I’ve taken. The river Varmá flowing past Reykjafjall mountain. The literal translations of those place names are “hot spring town”, “warm river”, and “steamy mountain” respectively. We are, as a nation, a bit literal-minded when it comes to naming things. I think this site here in Hveragerði is scheduled to be demolished, cleared, and replaced with high end flats next year. They’ve all been empty for months now and the house has been damaged by recurring leaks in the heating.
