Curiosity

If Curiosity Killed the Cat ( so we’re told, by who, I have no idea) then curiosity for me, as a child and adult alike, enriched my life and made it fuller and more interesting than it would have been otherwise. It’s bothered me for a long time as to why the saying changed from ‘care’; why care killed the cat, to curiosity given the two words are poles apart. The ‘care’ being referred to, as in cares of the world, were ‘worry,’ ‘grief,’ and ‘sorrow.’ Meaning don’t let any of these weigh you down least they eventually kill you. So how that single word then got translated later to curiosity is interesting. what the dictionary says about curiosity To imbue curiosity with negative connotations, in that, being curious can get you into trouble, or worse, killed; is, to be honest, weird. I find that a thing that has enriched my life for so long, my curiosity of the world, is considered being nosey or interfering is very sad.
