Etiquette, Vaccination, and MoreTwice yesterday, I encountered two of my favorite commentators urging a more self-interested discussion of two things America would do much better with more of: etiquette and vaccination.Both were a breath of fresh air, but I'll start with the one that mildly surprised me, although it really shouldn't have.Miss Manners takes a question from someone who by chance observed an acquaintance being extremely rude in a store. The questioner looked away, but may not have escaped detection, and so wondered if a greeting was in order. Unlike so many who would have probably said something about sparing the acquaintance embarrassment, Miss Manners advises sparing oneself:As you were not the one who misbehaved, there is no etiquette rule preventing you from greeting your friend with a cheerful smile.
