NVIDIA is the company building most of the chips used in “AI” data centers and Hugging face runs probably the biggest repository for data sets and open weight “AI” models in the world (Hugging Face also offers inference but not at relevant rates and market traction). The number sounds big (almost 13 billion USD) while being small for the “AI” space but the number itself isn’t all too interesting. The timing is relevant: We are seeing a massive form of centralization in the “AI” space that doesn’t look good for the whole industry (therefore it’s good for humanity). As Bloomberg has shown in January: The “AI” space is a circular system. NVIDIA invests in OpenAI and Coreweave and all those other companies so they can then use that money to buy or rent NVIDIA chips. All the money that Microsoft and other investors have poured into that system is kinda flowing upstream to NVIDIA who then uses it to prop up the whole “industry” in… No comments yet.
