While I’ve been working on scenery as part of the 2026 Season of Scenery challenge I’ve had a few tanks on the go as well, since I can slap mucky washes on buildings and tanks (and myself) at the same time! The challenge rules allow tanks to be included but since I paint them all the time (if somewhat intermittently) I wouldn’t normally consider them part of the challenge. Having said that, one of the tanks shown here is easily big enough to be a small building! Although the three tanks I’ve been working on are for my 20mm Victorian Science Fiction/steampunk armies they are in fact real vehicles from the WW1 period. They do, however, have a look that means they easily fit into an earlier time-frame as far as I’m concerned. First up is a generic “tank” that can be used by any of my forces that either can’t develop their own or can only do so on a limited budget! From what I can find out, this is an improvised armed and armoured body placed on a tracked agricultural tractor from the WW1…
