The night’s task: to start making the book my own.My impulse to create new things – music, stories, memories – is not dampened by the absence of daylight. Every few months, I sit at my piano, playing whatever music I am in the mood for; sometimes, I write a story under the cover of moonlight and my fairy lights. Tonight, I felt it was a good moment to start my new scrapbook, to do something calming to ease me out of one day and into the next.I have had mementos from day trips and travel and stickers sent to me from friends sitting on my coffee table for the last few days, the first step in moving these memories from the paper bag I got from the British Library into somewhere easier to spend time with, somewhere more visible.
