A few months in I noticed that we had three different, but similar, sans serif typefaces in play. Each one had a very specific purpose and worked very well. But we made a company-wide switch to Google Workspace for, well, many things (docs, slides mainly) and as you know, in that ecosystem it’s Google Fonts or nothing. So what’d I do? I Frankensteined the vibe of all three of those typefaces into a new one, Scoutie Sans. It’s got some very intentional quirks and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It probably deserves a much more in-depth writeup than I’m providing here, but it was a fun challenge and I’m also surprised at how enthusiastic the team was about creating a new brand font and open-sourcing said brand font. Progressive AF, if you as, me. The only downside to Google Workspace is the lack of alternates. That’d be my only request in Google Docs/Slides if I’m being honest.
