Things are not noticeably calmer than last time I posted (another week, another friend in hospital with a mysterious ailment – surely this variety of excitement was meant to wait until we were senior citizens, not in our forties?), but at least I have books this time. That’s something. The Translator by John Crowley – this was wonderful and so beautifully written. I had it checked out before Crowley died (on August 8), which was clever because hold lists always grow as soon as authors pass away.
