No plan survives first contact with the enemy (Ben Starav)

I am currently capitalising on my daughter being single and keen on Munro bagging and so more inclined to spend time with me than she might otherwise be. We have had some absolutely cracking days out and the memories of her crying half way up Allermuir all those years ago or even strops in the Cuillins have become distant memories. Bidean last year via the Zig Zags in the heat of July was a monster of a day but she says it was one of her best days out ever, closely followed by Beinn Alligin and Liathach this May with awesome scrambling. I had some annual leave and the forecast was reasonable so I thought we could knock off the Glen Etive/Black Mount Munros over three days. Easy peasy eh? In my initial enthusiasm I had us starting with the Glen Etive 5. I’ve just done the South Glen Shiel ridge so how hard could it be? A bit of research suggested it was Bloody Hard and probably a step too far for a middle aged hobbit and likely to adversely affect the Mother-Daughter relationships. It…
