In my review for Rocky Horror Picture Show, I pointed to Tim Curry as the standout performance; I still stand by that. He was in several other films over the next couple decades before suffering a stroke in 2012; he was unable to walk ever after and had short-term memory issues. But he still was able to do limited readings and appearances, and wrote a memoir published last fall. He passed from complications stemming from that stroke. Dolly Parton was also in some films herself – none of them on The List, though (nope, not even 9 To 5 or Steel Magnolias). I’d seen both, and was particularly impressed by the latter; I also thought certain one of them must have made it in. However, Dolly does get my vote for a favorite Oscar moment – when her song “Travelin’ Thru” was nominated for Best Original Song in 2005, and during her performance she singlehandedly got the entire audience to clap along with her,… No comments yet.
