Day 194: Tele Booth

2026-08-19Hello!We are close to Day 200 on dpanphoto, and I'm compiling a list of links across the internet that I find interesting. If there's a website I should know about, please contact me! I do this, in part, because it helps me take account of my biases and my circles of knowledge.This is an old-fashioned telephone at the entrance to a trail in the woods. I don't know if it works, but I assume it does. Otherwise, they would have taken it down by now. Still, it needs US quarters, the currency for laundromats, parking meters, and telephones.Why a telephone here of all places? At a bus stop or a public center, I can understand. But what kind of calls would come out of a trailhead? Emergency calls, perhaps?In fact, the panel on the telephone box even says that emergency calls are not charged.
