Gabriele Taylor (1927-2026)

Gabriele Taylor, emeritus fellow in philosophy at St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford, has died. Gabriele Taylor was known for her work in moral philosophy, especially moral psychology. She is the author of Pride, Shame, and Guilt: Emotions of Self-Assessment (1985) and Deadly Vices (2006), among other works, which you can learn more about here. She earned her B.Phil at St. Anne’s and taught there for a while, and then moved to Australia to teach at University College of Canberra. She returned to St. Anne’s in 1964 and was a fellow there until her retirement in 1996. Her collected essays, as well as a memoir, will be published next year, edited by her former student, Constantine Sandis.
