In 1936 a revolutionary movement swept the Spanish state. After the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the German Revolution of 1918/1919 it was one of the most important workers' revolutions in history. It saw a powerful working class movement take control of cities, towns and the countryside, running it in the interest of the producers and expelling the capitalist class.
