dear creative soul is a series of letters from my creative heart to yours Dear Creative Soul, My favourite artist is WMJ Turner. His art both fills me with beauty and sometimes makes me feel like crying. In the past I have let my love for the work of someone keep me from making my own art. But I have kept at it, because to me there is no greater joy than making my art my way. I am fully aware that I will probably need a lifetime of making art to make something that may touch someone in the way that Turner’s work does to me. I might also need 4 lifetimes for that. All is ok. And if that dreaded thought overtakes me that I will never be as good as him, I imagine this: he probably also started out making stick figures. What makes someone a fantastic artist is the fact that they keep practising. They don’t let themselves be eaten by this monster of insecurity in a way that stifles them. They make their art.
