Service entrance, Government House

I live around the corner so this is my test subject for new film I trying out, especially black and white. This is the side service entrance to Government House, home of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. This was my first roll of Kentmere Pan 200, a rather more affordable, classic grain emulsion from Kentmere, Ilford Harman’s “budget” brand. I had researched a little online of course and went ahead and bought five rolls of 35mm. I decided I wanted a bit more contrast than what I was seeing in online examples so shot with a yellow filter. As usual with filters, it’s all in the light. Some strongly lit frames became waaaay too contrasty while the more flatly lit scenes like this one turned out more toward what I was hoping for. I’ll keep that in mind with the other four rolls. Overall it’s a nice film, perhaps a touch more grain than I like, but definitely manageable and pleasing.
