Reese and Ron’s runaround

Ron Charles, previously book critic for The Washington Post before they decided books were not for them, relates a hilarious tale of scam-solicitation at his Substack — well more accurately hilariously relates a troubling tale. Mistaken for the author of Chasing Jesus, a certain Rev. Dr. Ron Charles, Mr Charles starts getting emails from “Reese Witherspoon” enquiring about his willingness to collaborate on “a visual documentary, historical drama, or education series”. After they get it straight that, rather than a book about Jesus’ interactions with the Roman authorities, or some such elevating stuff, they’re talking about a series of book reviews, no beats are missed, even when messages are signed with mysteriously changed names. “I apologize for the confusion.
