OTD in 2008, I began blogging about family history. I was a decade into my genealogy research and my first blog post was about great-grandpa Meyer Elias Mahler (1855?-1910). In the 18 years since that initial post, I learned lots more about Meyer and his family. I also examined my husband's ancestors and in-law ancestors on both sides of our tree (I do love in-laws!). As I gained experience, I improved my research strategies, learned to better document my ancestors, and began sharing family history as often and as widely as possible, keeping privacy in mind. Despite ongoing changes in the social media world, I'm sticking with Blogger because...It's free!I have 18 years of experience with this fairly uncomplicated platform. Owned by Google, Blogger is included in search results. Cousin bait!Readers can leave comments with minimal rigamarole; moderating comments is easy, to screen out spammers. My posts can be long or short, include images (or not), include tags, and be scheduled ahead…
