How To Record Cassette Tapes

There are a lot of guides online for recording cassettes This is another one, because why not. This isn’t a guide for how to get the ~best~ sound, it’s just how I figured out to do it using stuff that was already around or easily accessible to me. To record onto tapes, you basically only need 4 things: A cassette tape to record on. A source for the music you’re recording. A device capable of recording onto cassettes Some kind of cable connecting your source to your recording device. 1. The tape Blank tapes (as in tapes that were made for people to record on themselves) come in all sorts of durations. The most common ones are 60, 90, and 120 minutes. That would be 30, 45, and 60 minutes per side respectively. There’s other, less common lengths like 10, 45, and 70 minutes. I’ve read online that it’s not recommended to use anything longer than 90 minutes, since longer durations mean that the tape ribbon itself is thinner, less durable, and prone to stretching.
