My Mom Has Cancer

Yup, you read that right. I had mentioned in my "as of writing this" in my last post that on Tuesday evening my mom informed Mrs. Pirate and I that she has stage 3 carcinoma. I.e. breast cancer. The news came as a massive shock, and I took the news pretty hard for a bit. Of all the people, why my mom, yknow? What's sparking me to write this post now is that I had a call with my mom a few hours ago (at the time of writing this). The good news is, her odds are great. The bad news is, she's going to have to go through some rounds of chemotherapy as well as get a double mastectomy. Mama Pirate, despite the news, has a really beautiful outlook on it all. She seems at peace with it, and is determined to kick this cancer's ass. "My hair will grow back, I've always wondered what I'd look like with short hair" she says.
