I was moaning talking about my kids and how I try to make time for them despite having a stressful, busy job. His reply was something like: I wouldn't worry about it too much. I missed everything when my kids were growing up and they turned out fine. I didn't have time for it all with work. That was my wife's job. What he didn't realise was that I wasn't moaning about having to attend these things for my kids so I could focus on work. No. He read the room allllll wrong - I was saying the complete opposite. Work shouldn't get in the way of spending quality time with your family. I can't tell you how much these corporate shills piss me off. Working a 60-hour week isn't a badge of honour. It just shows you're a prick who for some reason prioritises their work over their family. Outside of the 4 walls of$company, no-one gives a fuck about how arbitrarily important you are.
