Late last year I picked up an inexpensive 35mm film camera at the recommendation of a YouTuber who has more experience at this sort of thing. Wanting to step away from my electronic gadgets from time to time, I was also interested in revisiting the excitement of seeing photos after they came back from the development process; much like we did back in the day when it took a year to get through a roll of film and then we waited a week for the photos to come back after we dropped off the film at the drug store. There’s not a lot of places in Tucson that still offer film development, so I opted to send two rolls of film to a company in New York. They processed the film and provided download links. I received the links this past week. I did feel the nostalgia of browsing through snapshots and I really enjoyed the look and feel of these photos, even though I’m looking through digital representation of film snapshots.
