Weeknotes 2026-08-23

These weeknotes are coming in a day late because reasons. The World The Iran war is in a deadlock with both sides claiming victory and seems to have moved into a phase of economic sanctions/pressure, which I think is pretty much where they were before Trump started this brouhaha. US/Canada trade negotiations have failed and the US has imposed 50% tariffs and Canada promises retaliation. This feels so crazy because a decade ago the US and Canada seemed like the closest of allies! PH: The Metro suffered heavy rains and floods over the past couple of weeks and yet of course nothing has come of the flood control scandal from last year. The impeachment trial continues apace and still a bit hard to ignore. My Week The rains continued for most of the week, then finally let up around Friday, giving us at least a weekend of decent sun.
