I mostly avoid corporate platforms… but I am on Goodreads on a daily basis 🤦‍♀️ (I know a lot of people are down on book tracking, but I read too many books to remember what I have read otherwise. Romance titles are notorious for using puns, pop culture references, and various [duke / earl / insert title here] so I need to write it down or I won’t remember that I have actually read “Ne’er Duke Well” but don’t want to read “Second Duke’s the Charm”.) I know. And yet, over the past 15 years, I have developed a reading system that relies on a Goodreads feature: custom shelves. I keep looking at Hardcover, but they don’t have custom shelves, and I’m not sure I could tolerate adapting my system to what Hardcover allows. (I’m not a fan of Story Graph though admittedly it’s been five years since I tried it.)
