• 4-star hike • 2 mile out-and-back • Moderate | Gain 590 feet • Amherst & Granby, MA | Western Region . Mt Norwottuck from Long Mountain's viewpoint. Long Mountain sits inside Mount Holyoke Range State Park, along the boundary between Amherst and Granby, Massachusetts. Reaching an elevation of 920 feet, it serves as the easternmost summit in the Holyoke Range. It offers a quieter alternative to heavier-trafficked destinations in the park, such as Mount Norwottuck or the Seven Sisters ridge to the west. The trailhead begins at a small pull-off on Harris Mountain Road, right where the road crosses the Amherst-Granby town line. From the parking area, the route to Long Mountain follows a section of the white-blazed 235-mile New England Trail. This section of path is also shared with the orange-blazed Robert Frost Trail and the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail.
