Some people were not aware that such discs even had any failure or wear-out mechanism, while others were curious and interested in more media types and perhaps running a different drive. Truthfully, that was a long experiment that only got posted long after its completion due to needing to develop the analysis pipeline. While the first round was getting posted, the second round was already in-progress. Why and How, Round 2? Round 2 of the endurance test began (in part) thanks to pepst, a loyal reader and generous donor, who provided a load of additional rewritable DVDs to add to the list. This was alongside my own continued perusing of Suruga-ya’s catalog, snapping up whatever new and interesting discs I could find.
