Of all the world-dominating, endlessly milked corpo mega-franchises in the world…Spider-Man has always been one of my favorites. As a kid, I grew up on the Tobey Maguire movies. Loved Spider-Man 2 on Gamecube. Loved Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Loved this weird little animated short that feels more in line with Ultimate Alliance vibes than it does with modern MCU vibes. The years went on, and I dabbled a bit in the comics. I went back and watched the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon I missed out on as a kid, which holds up surprisingly well. Into The Spider-Verse came out and instantly became one of my favorite animated films. I got a PS5 and immediately took it for a spin with the Miles Morales game, which was fantastic. My mood for Marvel stuff comes and goes in cycles. Sometimes I need a break and just don’t engage with it for a year or so. Every time I feel like I should outgrow it, something drags me back in. Even if the overall “Marvel mood” were to fade away forever I think Spider-Man…
