Sunday ‘Cats eyes removed’ Spend the next 10 minutes trying to work out a short but less weird statement they could’ve put on the road sign. ‘Retroreflective road markings removed’ just doesn’t cut it. I assume the village kids here were both delighted and horrified in equal measure when the sign went up. Imagine Weegee rocking up to take the shot. Monday Sunrise: 5:49am Woke up with the light. I’m not ready for this yet. Not for the days to get shorter. The sky outside is unusually busy, streaked with white contrails both long and lasting. The route into the Silent Wood is still blocked. I break in through the latest citizen-made entrance, up and over a steep bank – part of the reason T has his poles. Inside there’s nothing but a raspy shuffle of squirrels, mice in the undergrowth and two/too green parakeets flashing against the trees as they leave. Feeling uneasy, I check behind me as I walk. I can’t tell if seeing another person would be a blessing or a curse. What is it about this…
