The sun is shining through the big and small clouds in the sky. The sun shines with such power that the areas that most catch my eye are the periphery of the darkest clouds, illuminated by the yellows of evening. The light coming through the window ebbs between faint and full, casting a shadow of four keys on my typewriter that rests on the coffee table.I looked to the skies after a piano session, one in which I played along to some of my favourite songs to play on piano. These songs in particular bring out a degree of emotion that few pieces of music do, a degree of emotion that makes me want to press the keys with great intensity in the peaks of the song and, subsequently, with the lightest touch as the song flows. I live with the intensity of the music: slow, fast, slow.On the piano I can let my thoughts fall away for a moment. I can press the same notes ten times over along to the song to which I am listening, feeling the significance of every one, enjoying the repetition and also…
