Day 189: Drained Creek Two

2026-08-14Hello!I don't know what caused this creek to dry up. It would be easy to attribute it to the climate crisis at large, but I wonder if the water is pooling up in a different spot. It's not like this area hasn't had rain — there was an overnight shower two nights ago.The water level is there — there's some muddy water in the bottom left of this image — but it's not significant enough to count. Again, the creek used to carry so much watter, it flooded on occasion! This is nothing.I can't determine when this creek dried up; it looks fresh, since roots are still exposed and moss hasn't made it all the way into the creek. At the same time, the rocks are dry. Sticks have fallen into the carving, where they would otherwise be swept away by water.I started to turn around and walk back to the parking lot when a local came up to me.
